six people, one room, and a big question

Hey Reader,

Last week I told you about a gathering I'm speaking at in New York on May 2–3.

This week I want to tell you about the people who'll be in the room, because the range of experience is unusual.

Between us, we've worked in prisons, addiction services, military settings, healthcare systems, schools, and community organisations.

Quite an impressive mix if I do say so myself :)

Sadly, we've all seen people written off by every system designed to help them.

And we've each, in different ways, seen what happens when someone is met with understanding instead of a programme.

Here's who's joining me:

Chana Studley has spent decades working across mental health and addiction systems. Her work shows what opens up when you stop trying to correct people and start seeing them as whole.

Dr. Jeanne Catherine-Gray is a researcher and co-founder of Innate Health Research. She bridges science with practical, prevention-oriented approaches to care, particularly in communities facing adversity.

Rob Cook brings military leadership, personal recovery, and a voice that cuts through deficit-based narratives. He shows how understanding the mind can restore stability even after extreme disruption.

Stewart Iskowitz works with the New York Peace Project, where insight scales from personal wellbeing to culture, conflict, and connection at a systems level.

Wendy Williams is a nurse, educator, and practitioner who translates this understanding into clear language that helps professionals and individuals orient back to clarity.

What connects all of us is a shared interest in what happens when this understanding reaches the people who lead communities.

Not just individual transformation, but the ripple effect.
